The Association was formed in 1996 when a number of farm and residential tenants of the Duchy of Cornwall on the Islands banded together to challenge their landlord over the introduction of a ‘Bed Tax’ policy. As a result, the Duchy was obliged to negotiate an agreement rather than impose unilaterally its own scheme.

Over the past 10 years membership has more than trebled and the Association has taken up a range of issues on Scilly and kept members alert to Duchy plans for the Islands, including its recent venture into the luxury end of the holiday cottage market.
